Outside Activities and Interests Policy

The Outside Activities and Interests Policy provides resources and guidelines for employees about situations that could generate or appear to generate conflicts of interest.

This policy updates and replaces the University’s previous Conflict of Interest Policy.

Updates of the policy include:

• Established membership and meeting frequency for the Outside Activities and Interests Committee to increase faculty representation.

• Initial review of outside activities and interests by supervisors, and includes supervisory input in committee review.

• Increased disclosure reporting and pre-approval thresholds from $250 to $5,000.

• Established an assumption that faculty are allotted one day per week to spend on outside activities.

• Defined activities that do and do not require pre-approval.
