Faculty Grievance Policy
The Faculty Grievance Policy addresses situations in which faculty might have grievances.
Updates of the policy include:
· Revises the policy to make clear that it is specifically for faculty grievances (as opposed to those of staff or students)
· Clarifies the list of grievances that it does not cover, including course load and course assignment, termination decisions, and several other situations for which adequate appeals are provided within existing policies (such as promotion decisions, Civil Rights and Title IX determinations, processes governed by federal regulations, and dismissal decisions)
· Adds a process for reaching a determination on the grievance without a hearing (in the section in both documents entitled “Determination of Hearing”)
· Elaborates on necessary procedures in the event that the President were to decide the grievance contrary to the Grievance Committee’s judgment
