Family Members Accompanying Short-Term Study Abroad Policy
The Family Members Accompanying Short-Term Study Abroad Policy formalizes practices regarding the responsibilities of faculty participating in short-term study abroad programs.
The Family Members Accompanying Short-Term Study Abroad Policy becomes effective with Wintermester 2022-23 programs.
Overview of the policy:
• This policy provides guidelines to assure compliance with IRS Code requirements with regard to taxable benefits; ensures faculty fulfillment of obligations both to teach and to provide duty of care; and ensures that student fees do not fund travel for non-employees on Baylor trips.
• This policy delineates the conditions under which family members will be approved to accompany faculty who are teaching in short-term (e.g., summer or wintermester) study abroad programs.
