Promotion for Tenured Faculty Policy

The Promotion for Tenured Faculty Policy (BU-PP 702) addresses promotion to the rank of Professor. The revision of the policy is necessary because the current BU-PP 702, last revised in minor ways in 2007, lacks detail that is necessary for guiding all faculty and administrators in the promotion consideration process.

The new policy is accompanied by a detailed Promotion Procedures document, analogous to the Procedures documents for tenure and promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer, and promotion among the Clinical Faculty ranks. Institution of the new Promotion Policy and the new Promotion Procedures is also being accompanied by the creation of discipline-specific guidelines by all departments and/or Schools and Colleges.
