Policy on Adjunct Faculty at Baylor University
The Policy on Adjunct Faculty is a new policy. It is important for Baylor to have such a policy because of the very large number of individuals serving as part-time Adjunct Faculty at Baylor.
Some of the important matters for this policy to address were:
• Clarifying which faculty fall in this category (and distinguishing them from, for example, unpaid affiliate faculty, graduate teaching assistants, full-time temporary faculty, and full-time faculty and staff who are teaching as overloads)
• Specifying what expectations and resources apply to these faculty, as compared with those that apply to full-time faculty
• Clarifying terms of appointment, at-will status, and assessment processes as they apply to adjunct faculty
