Training and Education
The Texas Education Code requires that all staff in positions involving direct contact with minor participants in a Campus Program for Minors successfully complete an approved training and examination program on sexual abuse and child molestation every two (2) yrs.
*Civil penalties may be imposed for a person violating the Act or a rule or order adopted under the Act.

Who The Training Applies To:
Designated Individuals
Any person in a role involving direct contact with minor participants as an employee of a Campus Program for Minors.
- Each individual must complete the approved training and examination program.
- A minimum passing score of 70% is required on the exam.
Upon successful completion:
- Obtain a certificate of completion, and
- Provide verification of completion to the Program Operator.
Exclusion: A guest speaker, an entertainer, or fulfilling any other role whose attendance at the is for a limited purpose or a limited time if the employee has no direct and unsupervised interaction with minor participants.
Program Operator Responsibilities
Program Operators are responsible for:
- Verifying training completion before allowing designated individuals to work with minors
- Maintaining records (electronic or hard copy) of training verification for each individual
- Submitting the required verification form to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) through the Manager of Youth Safety
