University HIPAA & Texas Medical Records Privacy Act Resources

Because Baylor University has some offices, departments and units that engage in HIPAA-covered or Texas Medical Records Privacy Act (Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 181, sometimes referred to as HB300) work and function as HIPAA-Covered Components, Baylor University is designated as a Hybrid Entity. This means that some of our units as a whole, and select work conducted by some our faculty, staff and student are covered by HIPAA or HB300. This page is meant to serve as a resource guide for faculty, students, clients, patients and other members of the Baylor University community who are interested to know more about how HIPAA or HB300 applies at Baylor.
