Research Leaves Policy

The Research Leaves Policy establishes the structure and expectations for Compensated Research Time known as “Research Leave” at Baylor University, outlining responsibilities for both the institution and participating faculty members. 

Overview of Policy Changes:

• Clarified that the Deans have authority and jurisdiction over internal compensated research time (“Research Leave”)
• Added research-active clinical faculty to the policy
• Clarified academic terms (semesters, quarters)
• Noted that partial term leaves and leaves during intersession periods are not permitted
• Moved Summer terms into the policy
• Removed application procedures from the policy so that schools/colleges can create processes and programs for research leave that work for them
