Policy on Teaching Faculty at Baylor University
The Policy on Teaching Faculty at Baylor University sets forth the roles and responsibilities of Assistant Teaching Professors, Associate Teaching Professors, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University in support of Baylor’s mission. This policy and these titles replace the titles used in the immediate past version of BU-PP 716 entitled “Policy on Full-time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University.”
This updated policy will replace the University’s existing Policy on Full-time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University.
Overview of Policy Changes:
- The policy name has been changed to “Policy on Teaching Faculty at Baylor University.”
- The policy makes the following title changes to ranks: Lecturer to Assistant Teaching Professor and Senior Lecturer to Associate Teaching Professor.
- The updated policy removes temporary full-time lecturers so that those left in this policy are only “regular” faculty (those hired through competitive national searches with the intention for continuation and rank promotion over time).
- The policy aligns year 2, 4, and 6 review cycles with current institutional practice.
