Nepotism Policy

July 15, 2025

In order to realign the approvals for exceptions to the Nepotism Policy to the level of leadership closest to the impact of the familial relationship, we have made changes to the policy as outlined below.

Overview of Revised Policy:

  • Establishes a new group of employees, the President’s Council Group, that requires the President’s approval for exceptions to the policy for those on President’s Council.
  • The familial relationships in Group 1 will now require Division Vice President or Provost approval, as applicable.
  • Relationships in Group 2 will require Dean or Division Vice President approval, as applicable.
  • Procedures requesting an exception to the policy are the same and only the designated person to seek approval for the exception has changed based on the group the employee may fall within.
