Faculty Workload and Merit Evaluation Policy
The Faculty Workload and Merit Evaluation Policy establishes workload expectations for full-time, regular faculty members. These expectations inform the annual faculty merit evaluation process.
Updates to the policy include:
- The revised policy provides more consistent guidance on specific percentages for workload in teaching, research, and service.
- The revised policy clarifies types of service (internal and external).
- The revised policy specifies some enduring faculty responsibilities that are not service but are expected.
- The revised policy requires that faculty receive both written and face-to-face feedback annually and stipulates that workload considerations be included in planning for the year ahead.
- The revised policy incorporates BU-PP 707 Evening Courses and Summer Teaching. The existing BU-PP 707 can now be retired.
