New Privacy Policy

The Privacy Policy sets forth guiding principals and best practices regarding Baylor's collection, use, and disposition of personal and confidential information in a manner consistent with applicable law and the mission of Baylor University as set forth in Illuminate. The policy is not intended to be process-oriented, but rather to set forth a legal and ethical framework for data collection and processing.

Overview of the Policy:

  • The policy statement commits Baylor to respecting individual privacy and confidentiality to the extent reasonably practicable while balancing legal requirements, individual rights, ethical considerations, academic freedom and business necessity.
  • The policy sets forth 5 general privacy principals: minimization, choice, access, transparency, and security.
  • The policy establishes a University Privacy Committee and assigns responsibilities to it.
  • The policy discloses certain electronic data gathering practices.
  • The policy includes sanctions for violations of the policy.
